Project Briefing: The name of the primary school of CWFD is “Nibedita Shishu Nikaton”. It was started with a few slum children and with a very dedicated Teacher. At present it has 60 students from class I to V. When CWFD moved to its new facility at Banasree, the area was still growing with slums and high raised buildings. Children do not have any scope for education in formal school due to their vulnerable social status and for lack of necessary financial support. So, CWFD management thought that why not create a free schooling for them. After 7 years of operation of the management could raise a small fund from a Financial Partner of Bangladesh.
Present status of the school: At present CWFD has one male and one female Teacher. The students are taught according to the national school curriculum. Class is from 1 to 5 and after that CWFD helps them admitted to high school. Each year the students attend the Primary School Certificate examination and get satisfactory results. A voluntary group from Sweden visited the school in 2012 and was impressed by talking with the students. They offered their support by providing 10 scholarships for talented students. With this scholarship, some students already crossed the primary stage and were admitted to the formal High Schools. Three students already passed the SSC exam and admitted into the college for higher education. One girl, who started her study in the infant class has graduated and is going to complete her master’s degree. Presently, she is working as a teacher in the same school.
