Capability statement of CWFD
- CWFD is a women focus, women led organization
- General members and members of the Governing Body are all women from different strata of life
- With the strategy of “for the women, of the women and by the women” CWFD started its activity in 1976
- Our tag line is “because women matter”
- CWFD developed a service delivery model of face to face communication, one to one approach on reproductive health care counselling and door to door service of family planning through female field workers to suit the then social environment. which was followed by other NGOs
- CWFD has a long history of working closely with the community, understand their need and provide services accordingly
- After initial years of working with the women CWFD realized that decision about controlling own fertility is one step forward for women’s emancipation but much more needed to be done
- Gradually CWFD initiated other activities like raise awareness on gender biased discrimination, preventing domestic violence, creating economic opportunity, entrepreneurship development , leadership development
- Realizing the fact that for long term and sustainable impact depends on educating the huge adolescent population of Bangladesh. Again CWFD remain at the leading edge in developing innovative model for adolescent program for making a positive change in attitude and values and develop self-esteem
- Experience of working with Government of Bangladesh closely and thereby main streaming the program developed.
- Changing health seeking behavior and create a sustainable service delivery system through community volunteer who become entrepreneur themselves
