First Aid in Emergency Training

Concerned Women for Family Development (CWFD) organized a training on First Aid in Emergency for the Project Staff and Core staff of CWFD with the support from United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The training on First Aid in Emergency was organized in two batches which was scheduled on 25th and 27th June 2024. The training took place at the conference room of CWFD head quarter located in Banasree, Dhaka 1219. A total of 13 staff from Concerned Women for Family Development (CWFD) participated in the first batch on 25th June and other 13 staff joined on 27th June in the second batch. A total of 26 participants (Male 11, Female 15) received the training. CWFD hired trainers from First Aid Centre of Sweden, Bangladesh (FACS,B) to facilitate the training sessions.

An inaugural ceremony was held with the participation of both batches. The event began with a welcome speech by Dr. Ladly K. Faiz, Executive Director of CWFD, who served as the chief guest. Md Sanwarul Haque Khan, Head of the A & Y Programme, was the special guest. In his speech, he expressed gratitude to everyone for their punctual attendance and highlighted the significance of the training, along with the vision and activities of CWFD.

The training began with a pre-test and a discussion on participants’ expectations. The sessions covered various topics including the importance of first aid, levels of care, situation assessment, unconscious person management, recovery position, CPR with defibrillation, and management of choking, drowning, bleeding, burns, fractures, poisoning, and bites. Dr. Fazle Rabbani Sojib from the First Aid Centre of Sweden, Bangladesh (FACS,B) facilitated the training through group work, practical methods, and open discussions.

Dr. Muhammad Munir Hussain, Program Analyst of the A&Y Programme at UNFPA, visited training venue on both days of the training. In his speech, he thanked everyone for organizing the valuable training and emphasized the importance and benefits of acquiring first aid knowledge for everyday life.

At the end of the training, an evaluation was conducted through a practical session to assess participants’ understanding. Certificates were awarded to those who achieved satisfactory marks during a closing ceremony. The Honorable Deputy Executive Director of CWFD, Rokeya Sultana, attended the ceremony, delivering a speech, providing guidelines, and expressing gratitude to everyone for their active participation. Participants shared their positive experiences and appreciation for the lifesaving practical training, expressing hope for future refresher courses on First Aid in Emergencies.

  • Participants learned how to assess situations, administer CPR, control bleeding, immobilize injuries, set recovery positions, and manage various conditions such as burns and fractures.
