Project Location: 07 districts: Faridpur (Bhanga, Nagarkanda), Madaripur (Rajoir, Kalkini), Barishal (Gounadi, Babugonj, Wajirpur), Jhalokati (Rajapur, Kathalia, Jhalokati Sadar, Nalcity), Pirojpur (Swarupkati, Kawkhali, Bandaria, Mathbaria), Chandpur (Haziganj, Shaharajit, Kachua, Faridgonj), Gopalganj (Muksudpur)

Goal: Promote behavioral change to reduce unhealthy health practices through community mobilization & social marketing of health products of SMC.
Project Staff: Total staff: 80 (F-57, M-23)
Target Beneficiaries: Married Women of Reproductive Age (MWRA), Caregivers of children under 5 years, Pregnant Mothers, School Adolescents, Community leaders, and Newly-wed couples

Major Activities

  • Advocacy meetings with Govt. stakeholders, Elected representatives, and local influential people
  • Courtyard meetings with Married Women of Reproductive Age (MWRA) and Caregivers, discussions about Family Planning methods, Antenatal Care (ANC), and Postnatal Care (PNC)
  • Interpersonal Communication (IPC) with newlywed couples and discussions about birth spacing
  • Health sessions with school and college-going adolescents and discussions about Reproductive health
  • Conduct meetings with pregnant women
  • Monthly meetings with 597 Gold Star Members (GSM)
  • Encouraging the use of Family Planning methods, Child health and nutrition, ANC, and PNC
  • Ensuring the supply of health products through GSMs whenever and wherever demand is created in the catchment areas

Achievements

  • A total of 12,128 group meetings were held with 140,184 MWRA and 62,566 caregivers
  • A total of 1,469 interpersonal communication (IPC) sessions were conducted with newlywed couples
  • A total of 660 school sessions were conducted with 28,877 students at school and college levels
  • A total of 189 sessions were conducted with 2,690 pregnant women
  • A total of 23 GSMs received basic training
  • 4 days (World TB Day, World Population Day, Breastfeeding Week, and World Contraception Day) were observed
  • 1,259 days were utilized for project monitoring and evaluation
  • A GSM’s experience-sharing meeting was held with 568 GSMs
  • Total health products worth Tk. 82,532,122/- were sold during the period of October 01, 2022 to September 30, 2023
